GS Accounts
This page describes the requirements and procedures for obtaining a Genome Sciences user account. If you already have an account and need assistance, please contact GS-ITS.
GS-ITS has transitioned to a user authentication system called Genome Sciences Directory Services (GSDS). GSDS is used for authentication across all desktop and server systems managed by Genome Sciences IT Services. Along with GSDS accounts, GS-ITS will create other accounts as needed.
Account Application Process for UW Faculty, Staff, and Students
-
1. User gets a UW NetID from UW Technology
UW NetID's are managed by UW Technology. Go to http://www.washington.edu/computing for details about getting a UW NetID, setting a password, and other related information. For personal assistance, contact help [at] u.washington.edu or call (206) 221-5000.
All GS accounts require a UW NetID. Your UW NetID will be used for your GSDS username. Standardizing GS accounts with reference to UW NetIDs allows us to write web tools, audit accounts, standardize contact methods, and maintain a one-to-one relationship between individuals and accounts. It will also allow us the option to switch authentication to the main campus system at a later date. If you are currently using a username that does not match your UW NetID on GS-ITS managed systems, we will contact you to discuss the transition. -
2. User completes and returns required School of Medicine paperwork
Review, sign, and return the UW School of Medicine "Privacy, Confidentiality, and Information Security" agreement.
This must be returned to the Genomes Sciences HR manager for recording and filing prior to account creation.
