Genome Sciences policy on office space for emeritus faculty

If space is available, faculty moving to emeritus status may ask the chair for office space and be granted an office or shared office for a period of three years. After this period, emeritus faculty may request an extension if they are continuing to engage in scholarly activities, and the chair has the prerogative to grant it. Following the end of their usage of a personal or shared office, emeritus faculty are welcome to use communal space designated for emeritus faculty.

As Genome Sciences does not have room to store files, notebooks or other faculty material, the department expects that at the time faculty members take emeritus status and move to other office space, they will remove or dispose of all material apart from that required to be retained per sponsor and UW retention schedule.  The department can assist with sending records to the University Records Center for the required retention period.
