Faculty and Student Outreach Efforts

Information about outreach efforts by our faculty and students is posted below. While information is listed under the main organizer, there are often many other faculty and student participants. When possible, a list of participants will be included.

Kiran Dhillon

I volunteer with the Seattle Youth Tutoring Program which provides homework help and skill building exercises for at-risk youth at various public housing centers in the city.

I organized a day long field trip for about thirty 5th-12th grade students from one of the tutoring center. We used a lab in Hitchcock and J-280 to introduce the students to what scientists do. Several faculty memebers and students from the department either spoke with the students or did demonstrations.

I know the students really appreciated getting the chance to talk to real scientists from the feedback I got and I think the faculty and grad students also really enjoyed the experience!
