F. novicida Mutant Library

8-27-2018  Temporary shutdown of individual mutant distribution

The mutant distribution center is being reorganized and we have suspended distribution of individual mutants during the process. We regret any inconvenience, and anticipate that individual strain distribution will recommence in a few months. We will continue to distribute copies of complete mutant libraries that are in our inventory.

The Francisella novicida reduced mutant library exists in two versions:

The two-allele library contains two unique mutant strains for most non-essential genes (Gallagher et al. 2007. PNAS 104(3):1009).  The library and individual strains are available from BEI Resources.

The three-allele library comprises the two-allele set supplemented with additional strains to make a library with an average of three unique mutant strains per non-essential gene (Enstrom M, Held K, Ramage B, Brittnacher M, Gallagher L, Manoil C. Genotype-Phenotype Associations in a Nonmodel Prokaryote. mBio. 2012;3(2):e00001-12. doi:10.1128/mBio.00001-12.).

The accompanying table (F.n. Three Allele Library) lists the members of the three-allele mutant set.  Currently, strains in the three-allele library, which are not part of the two-allele set, may be requested from the Manoil Laboratory.
