Research:
I am currently examining the effect of upstream redundant transcription factors on the expression of pha-4 in C elegans. Specifically I am examining the effect of three sets of redundant GATA factors in the E-lineage. The main focus of my research is to not only show an almost novel genetic interaction, but also to show that ability of our 4D laser imaging technology to pick up subtle changes in reporter gene expression. This is especially important because showing effects of redundant genes as individual effectors is especially challenging. I hope to expand this technology to other redundant tissue specification pathways.
